Let’s talk about awkward moments.

Remember back in high school, when you had to get a physical in order to be able to play sports? And at the doctor’s office, it was just no fun at all because you had to pee in a cup? Awkward. Very awkward.

But there was a method to the madness. The school wanted to make sure that the kids were cleared to play sports. And the doctor helped make sure that happened.

Today, we’re going to ask you to do the same thing, just for your online course. No, not pee in a cup – but go through a checkup and see where you’re at. You see, it’s so easy to forget about time, and before you know it, the year has slipped by and you haven’t done the things that you thought that you’d do. So it’s time for a check-up.

The internet has changed everything. It’s changed the way we do business. It’s changed the way we connect with people. And it’s also changed the way we find people with similar interests. On some levels this may seem very basic, but the internet is only 27 years old, imagine what it will be like in 30 more years. The reach that the internet has, and will have, will be much more advanced.

Think about it, the internet allows people to interact with each other and meet people that may have never met face-to-face. The internet has, in Wellman’s terms, caused “glocalization”. At one point we were all restricted to our social group that was only local to us: friends, family, co-workers, people that were a short distance away. The internet has allowed people and businesses alike to connect on a global level.

Knowing your measurements, knowing your metrics, knowing your key performance indicators – call it what you will – but if you know your numbers – you can turn failures into wins.

Numbers may not be as shiny as new products, but they DO matter.

If you are running an information product-based business and selling online courses and you want to continue to sell and continue to grow, you need to know your numbers. Unless you’re operating off of your memory and let’s face it, everybody’s memory sucks, especially before your first cup of coffee. Don’t get Summit Evergreen‘s idea of stalking confused with the kind of stalking like in Single White Female or One Hour Photo. We aren’t talking stalking in a creepy way.
